Fish of the day!

Last Friday it was a good day for a walk and me and the kids went walking along the seafront. On our way we saw lots of interesting things like a passing fire-truck, my son spotted a toy work bench which was thrown away waiting to be picked up for garbage and also we met Manuel one of the local fishermen. He was cleaning with sea water the octopus he had caught earlier that day.

Birzebbuga Park by sundown

This is a photo taken a couple of days ago , it's amazing how the sun can make this place deserted and by sundown it comes to life again. I took this photo at around 7.30pm, on our way home from the beach. Happy Sunday everyone.

Mistra Bay - Malta

In the World War II and even earlier Mistra Bay was used as an alternative base for seaplanes when the weather would not allow landing at Marsaxlokk, which was the main base.

More Housing - A House of Character

Back to Housing, today I take you to 'Attard' a town in the northern part of the island. Houses of Character are found all over Malta but you can find a big number of them in the older villages and towns. An old house of character is converted and in my opinion they are beautiful. They are pretty expensive to buy and renovate.

Boats, Yacht Marina Ta'Xbiex # 3

Today I am posting two photos and the reason for this is because I want you to actually figure out the size of this thing. When we were done from the marina and driving back out on the other side of the marina we saw this mega-yacht, of course we parked again by the side and I got out for some shots, silly me I did not have my full camera kit so I had no extra zoom. The reason for this Yacht to be on that side could be two, one it is too big to berth next to the others and two at the moment in Malta they are filming scenes for a film and this could belong to a celebrity.

The fruit and vegetable store at the corner

This is a typical vegetable shop which you can find all over malta in the towns and villages. Fresh fruit and vegetables can be bought on Monday evenings and Thursdays. Some also sell their vegetables from their vans (will post a photo of that too).

Sea Urchin

..small spiny sea creature found in oceans all over the world. They are members of the 'phylum echinodermata' which includes starfish, sea cucumbers, brittle stars and crinoids.
Humans consume sea urchin (roe) raw or briefly coked, popular in Korean cuisine and called 'uni' in Japanese sushi cuisine.

More housing

This building has been around for a long time, these are apartments and I think they are so neat. I like the size of the balconies. Nowadays because space is limited the balconies are much much smaller. Have a nice Sunday everyone.

Sunday market at Marsaxlokk (fishing village)

This is something different from housing. This is the market which takes place every Sunday at Marsaxlokk. Marsaxlokk is the fishing village located in the southern part of Malta. You can see that the photo was taken from inside a car and if you look carefully in the mirror you can see part of the body of the person who is responsible for this shot. Now who do you think took this shot??

I would like to add a link here to a great giveaway.

Here's the link: http://www.hskubes.blogspot.com/2007/09/fall-back-into-homeschool-giveaway.html

Street SIGNS

As today is the first day of the month, I thought of having a look around to see what the DP theme. So here I have a photo of a street sign which is found in Birzebbuga 's main square showing three ways, one way to Valletta, the other to a part in Birzebbuga called Brolli and the other to a no entry road because it is one way only and that is coming in to the centre.
