The Valletta Breakwater
From the position in which I took the photo I posted yesterday we turn to the left side and we have the Valletta breakwater. Here a ship enters the Grand Harbour at Valletta, once locked with heavy chains for the Ottoman Turks.
As far as I know, the Grand Harbour used to be locked with chains in WW2 to keep submarines out. The room from where this chain was operated is still there down by the water, and it's now like a sort of museum.

My maternal grandfather worked on the construction of this breakwater from 1903 to 1909, He was a diver and lived in Senglea. I have a book that tells the story of the project. The foundation stones were brought from Gozo.
A William Scott from England was a diver who worked on the construction, he was my paternal greatgrandfather. Any further information or photographs appreciated.
