Haz-Zabbar - 'Citta' Hompesch'

Zabbar is the 4th largest city in Malta, with a population of 15,000(as per 2005). It was originally part of Zejtun but by time it became an independent Parish. In 1798 it got the name of 'Graziosa Citta Hompesch' from the Grandmaster of the order of St.John who at the time was Ferdinand von Hompesch. This is why Zabbar is also known by 'Citta Hompesch'.

What an absolutely amazing church! You really have to enlarge it to appreciate all the details. Even the lamps in front of it are fantastic.

What a magnificent cathedral! Could we take a look inside through your camera lens?

Well hey, that looks familiar! You forgot to mention the part about the miracle, the airplane crash during the war. Have you been to the little museum?

Juniper, I wanted to mention that too and had a longer write up to post, however I had to cut it short :) . I've never been to the museum, but am planning a visit this week and also want to take some shots of the church from the inside. Fancy joining me ?
