More Housing - A House of Character

Back to Housing, today I take you to 'Attard' a town in the northern part of the island. Houses of Character are found all over Malta but you can find a big number of them in the older villages and towns. An old house of character is converted and in my opinion they are beautiful. They are pretty expensive to buy and renovate.

A lovely house. Is that a religious figure in the niche? Is this common to see in Malta on houses?

Yes that is the holy mary and it is common to see this in Malta houses especially in the older generation.

Really looks nice! I understand laetitias's husband - and yours? - could take care of the renovation? Hardly any need for air conditioning with these walls?

It does have a lot of character! I agree with Peter, with those sturdy walls it must keep it cool inside. I wonder how old it is.

Like adobe, thick walls keeps the rooms cooler. Or should. I like the photo.

I just began a new site about Japan in the early 1950s when we were there. You can get to it from my Brookville daily photo blog. Times have changed a lot there too over the 50-plus years since we were there.

Some great photos again this week, I've enjoyed it!

The house is O.K. but I'd prefer to live on the boats!
