Aquaculture / fishfarming ....

Aqua Culture was introduced in Malta in 1988. In the early 1990's commercial fish farms started producing European sea bass and gilt head sea bream. Maltese companies showed interest in farming the Atlantic blue fin Tuna. This fish farm is found in the southern part of the Island which is the Birzebbuga and Marsaxlokk area.

We have a lot of aqua culture too, but I was told the fish taste a bit different (though I think I will never notice it! lol) and it makes sense once those are fed...

These nets look interesting. I like those huge cranes in the background.

I was looking on the website for pics of Wied iz-Zurrieq and opened your blog. The very first picture shows an old friend of mine, Xavier. I can't believe this!!!! Do you know him? When I was there, I remember him always helping out people with their boats. This must be "some enchanted evening" for me. If you do know him, say hello from "Penny".

Penny, are you talking about the photo I have on the front page of the blog? If yes than I don;t know anyone of those men apart from the one with the baby on the back and he is from Vancouver, BC. Sorry :(

Hi Again

Yes, the grey-haired man with plaid shirt. You answered me so quickly - thank you. I haven't talked to him since 2001 and it was such a surprise to see him on your site. Xavier lives in Zurrieg and loves the sea and is always down there helping anyone he can. I'm so sorry you don't know him. Very nice man!!! Thank you for letting me know.

I meant to tell you how beautiful the pictures are on your site. I have been to most of those places and Malta is just beautiful. I enjoyed looking through them very much. While I was there, I lived in Zurrieq.
