Tallest building in Malta!

This is St.Julians Seafront and that is the tallest building in Malta. St. Julians is the nightlife area .

St.George's Chapel

This Chapel is found in St.Georges bay Birzebbuga.

Pretty Bay

This is for Berzy who was born in Malta and brought up in pretty bay and now lives in Australia. I will also take a picture of how the buildings at the promenade look today, so that you can compare to the old photo you have on your blog of 1900's. This photo was taken last week at around 6pm.

Bye Bye Southend

Southend guest house has been part of the 'xatt' (promenade) facade for as long as I remember and that is a good twenty years for sure. Anyways for all of you out there who remember this building it is now being demolished to be replaced by another building so far the rumours are either a nursing home for the elderly or a guest house again.

Buskett Gardens

I believe I have already once shown a photo of Buskett. Well, yesterday togheter with some friends we went there for a picnic so here's a shot of the street leading down to buskett.

Birzebbuga

This is a photo taken a couple of days ago, unfortunately I haven't been able to take some decent photos lately as I have been very busy! This photo shows part of our town . Birzebbuga has grown alot in the last twenty years.

Road leading into Birzebbuga

This is the main road leading into birzebbuga. One can come into our village using other routes but this is the main one.

Fire Fighting School

This photo was taken this morning whilst there was an ongoing lesson at the firefighting school up at HalFar.

Villa Overhills

This building is found opposite Ghar Dalam, it is now used as a party hall for weddings, big parties, etc.. Someone had asked me to take a picture of this building, well here it is i hope this is what you meant.

Birzebbuga's old bus

This is the old bus that used to run from Valletta to Birzebbuga and Kalafrana (the area next to our town). The buses are now yellow and with numbers, but before they where colour coded and the one for our town was blue.

Passion for Buses

A former bus driver Mr Emanuel Muscat who lives in my town kindly let me inside his garage to see him working on these lovely bus models he makes out of wood and other materials. He makes them so neat and to perfection that one obviously has to see them in real life to appreciate his work. Well done to Mr Muscat and thanks.

Petroleum Division - Enemalta

This is the petreolum division of Enemalta, I have previously shown the gas division and the electrical division/power station. Petrol and Petroleum where introduced in Malta in the early 1900's and this was after the gas and electric. In 1928 the first few Petrol Stations started to open on our island.

I was woken up this morning by this eager farmer who wanted to start ploughing his field very very early!!!!! This field is found opposite my building.

Restored houses of charachter

I have once mentioned that alot of old houses are being restored , this is a photo I took back in October, of a house that has been restored lately.

Whilst walking with the kids through the lanes, we came across this house for pigeons.

This garden is located next to the Valletta bus terminus and was inaugurated on the 31st of March 1984, with association of Freedom day.

Happy Christmas to Everyone

I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas. Let us all stop for a moment and think of all the children in need , the sick and the poor. May they all find their happiness.

It's the eve of ........

.........Mary's baby was due to be born at any moment and she was exhausted. After travelling for many days and nights, they finally reached the little town of Bethlehem. The inns were full and it seemed that there was no place for them. Mary looked so tired at one inn, that the innkeeper felt sorry for her and offered Joseph his stable. The stable was full of animals and very smelly and dirty, but at least it was somewhere for Mary to rest. Mary gave birth to her son that very night. She wrapped him warmly, in strips of cloth and laid him gently in a manger to sleep.

Let us not forget the true meaning of this evening............ merry christmas to you all

Fine bone china

Antique Stall - Valletta

A couple of days ago my friend and I went to Valletta and as we saw this antique stall. There's part of the bastion wall behind and I choosing sepia on my camera I thought makes it look more ancient and antique.

Take off!!

Whilst on our puddle walk last Sunday we could see the runway for our international airport. This plane was about to take off.

JUMP JUMP

The kids had such a laugh jumping in each and every single puddle they saw. I must say it was fun to let our hair down!!!!

Walk in the country lane - Gudja

Yesterday was a rainy day. So my friend and I geared the kids with wellies and rain jackets and went for a puddle jumping / walking adventure. Will post a couple of more pictures of the kids in the muddy puddles tomorrow.

Christmas lights - Valletta

This is Valletta (Malta's capital city). I have already posted a photo of this same street but it was taken during day hours, here it is now at sunset with lights on full swing.

As promised this is the street with the lights at nightime, I have also taken a couple of photos with street christmas lights from Valletta, will show them aswell. 

Fire

I have to say that I have not been able to go out in the evening to take a photo of the town christmas's lights, but am hoping to go tonight, so will be able to post soon. In the meantime I have taken a picture of our fire place as when I look at it I feel so relaxed.

Mdina entrance

I have no photos for today so I am posting this photo I took back in August on a visit to Mdina . Mdina is the old capital city and is surrounded by bastions. I have already posted some pictures of Mdina.

mcdonalds

Taken the idea from Tanty here is the nearest Mcdonalds to our town, this is found at the Malta International Airport in Gudja. It has the only drive thru in the whole of the island.

Where's the cold weather???

It almost feels like spring this morning here in Malta!!! This is the playground down by the front , very close to the beach and the other picture is the promenade and the football pitch which are also found by the beach 'pretty bay'.

Sky

I did not go anywhere again today it was a rainy day and alot of it. So I only went grocery shopping and did not take any photos. In the evening we had this sky and after the grey and dark sky all day I thought it looked lovely.

Advent wreath!!

Do you have the same tradition with the wreath and the candles, here we light up one each sunday for the four sundays before christmas. What's your tradition?? To be exact the candles have to be purple.

School / park

 
The building behind the big trees there is the primary school of our town and the park is the oldest one in our town we have three more parks now. I used to come to this park when i was a little girl. Used to go to that school too when i was a little girl !!!!

St.George's Bay

This is St.George's Bay in Birzebbuga and the buildings on the other side are in the area called 'Qajjenza' which is found between Birzebbuga and Marsaxlokk.

Valletta bus terminus

This is the Valletta bus terminus, buses from all over Malta start their journey from here and end up at the destination town or vice versa, the terminus is bigger but I could not get a better shot as I was standing in the middle of the road trying to get both buses and the fountain which is found in the centre.

Pasta Distributor

Here's a local pasta distributor's van. I decided to place this photo for today as my son pointed it out, and I cannot say no to my little one!!
