Maltese Street

This is a typical Maltese Street. Maltese streets aren't very wide, this is a middle size one, there are smaller ones which are called alleys and bigger ones which can be find in the newly built parts of towns. In old villages you can find really sweet nicely kept alleys.

Bebbux - snails!!!

Whilst shopping this morning for vegetables at my local vegetable man, my son saw 'il-bebbux' snails in maltese. Here in Malta after the first rains alot of people go in fields to catch the snails, they fast them for some time and after they clean them in salt water or sea water. When all this is done they are cooked , boiled with herbs and wine and also as a salad with lots of garlic, fresh, tomatoes, basil and olive oil.

Sunset and Sunrise

Sunrise for me is the nicest part of the day, I love the smell of the early morning and tranquility, especially when my kids would still be in bed and i can have my morning cup of tea. Sunset on the other can be very romantic, especially if you are sitting with your loved ones somewhere peaceful. Where in my real life sunset is very hectic, wash , feed and put the kids to bed then wait for husband to come home from work , then we eat and THEN when sunset would have finished and the stars would be out I would be ready to go to bed!!

Town Parish Church

This is the main church of our local town, each town church in malta has a saint as it's Patron and in summer every weekend around malta and gozo there would be a feast celebrating the local Saint , sometimes there are villages and towns that have more than one feast 'festa' in maltese. Ours is St. Peter. I shall try and get a better view of the church. Have a nice Sunday everyone.

thoughts on being happy - 1

In the pursuit of happiness half the world is on the wrong scent. They think it consists in having and getting, and in being served by others. Happiness is really found in giving and in serving others. Henry Drummond (1851 - 1897)

Every thursday down in the centre of our town there's a market. You can find fruit and vegetables , clothes, plants and flowers, material, stationery, ladies bags and alot more, it's fun to stroll around even though it can be a bit tight at times especially when you are like me pushing a child in a stroller.

other part of the promenade

This is another part of the promenade, there are buildings on the left side and the sea on the other side, obviously if you are walking facing the same way as I was when I took the photo. Summer evenings this is more packed with people going for their evening 'Passegiata' (stroll), the word comes from the italian word 'passegiare' to go for walk!!!!
